Well known as “the last refuge of the incas”. The city played an important role as it was a connection between the Amazon Jungle and the city of Cusco. The region has a lot of microclimates and a landscape full of snow-covered peaks of about 6000m (19685f). Choquequirao trek is the place where you’ll discover the great citadel of the last inca kings surrounded by a beautiful ecosystem
DAY 1: CUSCO – CACHORA – CH’IQISQA
we leave Cusco heading towards Cachora where we will arrive at 10:30 am, after a break we will have lunch. Later we arrange the equipment on mules and horses. From this point we can observe the majestic Padrayoc snow-covered peaks. The hike on this first day will cover 20 km and along the way we will get a chance to appreciate the change of the landscape from precipices to snowcapped mountains, at the distance is possible to see the Apurimac canyon, we will camp near the area of Ch’iqisqa.
DAY 2: CH’IQISQA – CHOQUEQUIRAO
We will have breakfast early in the morning, after which we will continue walking down until playa Rosalina to cross the bridge of Apurimac river and then start to go up until reaching Santa Rosa, to have a rest, later we will continue to Maran Pata where we will have a typical lunch. After a break, we will walk for 3 hours more until arriving to Choquequirao. Near this complex we will set our camp.
DAY 3: CHOQUEQUIRAO – CH’IQUISKA
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will visit the main places inside Choquequirao, Ushno, Hanan and Urin, where we can find streets, rectangular and squared buildings. Later you will have enough time to visit the area on your own. We will come back to our camp to have lunch, rest and then start walking down until reaching Ch’iquiska, where our camp will be set.
DAY 4: CH’IQUISKA – CACHORA – CUSCO
Early in the morning after breakfast, We will walk back to the town of Cachora, to have lunch and rest for some time before taking the transport back to Cusco.
